Streaming Stars, Then and Now

Holly Longdale is a prominent video game producer and executive best known for her leadership of some of the most influential Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Games (MMORPGs) in history. She serves as the Vice President and Executive Producer for the World of Warcraft franchise at Blizzard Entertainment, where she oversees the strategic direction of both the modern game and its "Classic" versions.

Longdale began her career in journalism and communications before transitioning into game development. In 2003, she joined Sony Online Entertainment (now Daybreak Game Company), where she spent over a decade working on the EverQuest and EverQuest II franchises. During her time there, she rose to become the Executive Producer of the entire EverQuest franchise, notably pioneering the "progression server" model that allowed players to experience the game as it was at launch. She also spent several years as a Senior Producer at Disney Interactive Studios, working on online experiences for major film franchises like TRON, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Cars.

In 2020, Longdale moved to Blizzard Entertainment specifically to lead World of Warcraft Classic. Her success in managing the nostalgic community led to her promotion in late 2022 to Executive Producer for the entire World of Warcraft brand. Known for her commitment to community transparency and listening to player feedback, she has been a key figure in revitalizing the franchise through expansions like Dragonflight and the upcoming The War Within.

From Guild Mate to Developer: Longdale didn&#39;t start in game development; she was working as a writer for Microsoft when an EverQuest guild mate who worked at Sony convinced her to apply for a job.

A Lifelong Gamer: Longdale is a true veteran of the genre. As of 2024, she has been playing World of Warcraft for over 20 years.
