Biography

Len Goodman was born on April 25, 1944 in Farnborough, Kent, England, UK. He was an actor and production manager, known for Dancing with the Stars (2005), The Sword of the Lord (1976) and Love/Loss (2010). He was married to Sue Barrett and Cherry Kingston. He died on April 22, 2023 in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, England, UK.

He took up dancing at age 19, after a doctor told him it would be good exercise for his injured foot. The former welder in the Woolwich docks eventually won the British Championships. He became a teacher and choreographer, and opened his own dance school in Kent.

He grew up in London's East End, where his family sold vegetables from wheelbarrows.

One of his maternal great-great-grandfathers was Polish.
