Wahyu Tri Purnomo is a Film Sound Designer based in Jakarta, Indonesia.
He was born in Jakarta, in May 1979.
He went to Faculty of Film and Television in Jakarta Institute of Arts (IKJ) class of 1998, majoring on Film Sound.
He worked on several short films by Edwin: "A Very Slow Breakfast" (2002) and "KARA, The Daughter of A Tree" (2005) which was Indonesia's first short film that goes to 2005 Cannes Film Festival in the Director’s Forthnight session.
In 2005 he worked on his first Feature Film as Sound Designer alongside with the late Khikmawan Santosa, "Catatan Akhir Sekolah" by Hanung Bramantyo.
Since then he worked on several films. Some examples are film by Nia Dinata ("Berbagi Suami" - 2006, as Foley Recordist), Djenar Maesa Ayu ("Mereka Bilang Saya Monyet" - 2007, as Dialogue Editor), Kamila Andini ("The Mirror Never Lies" - 2011, as Dialogue Editor) and Garin Nugroho ("Mata Tertutup" - 2011, as Sound Designer).
In 2012, a feature film in which he involved as a sound designer, "Postcards From The Zoo", directed by Edwin, received an Official Selection for the 62nd Berlinale Film Festival Competition.
His works were nominated for Best Sound (Tata Suara Terbaik) at the Indonesian Film Festival (FFI) in 2017 for "Nightbus" by Emil Heradi and in 2019 for "Bumi Manusia" by Hanung Bramantyo.
