Amber Virtue was born in Sydney Australia and began acting at the age
of 12, while training at the prestigious Australian Theatre for Young
People, the alma mater of Nicole Kidman and Rose Byrne. Amber landed
roles on successful television programs such as Heartbreak High,
Breakers, and All Saints. In 1994, during the filming of the movie
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, director Bryan Spicer picked Amber out of
a crowd of extras and gave her the role of the Ooze Kid.
Amber later trained at the Ensemble Acting Studio, a three-year acting conservatory. During this time she appeared in films such as The Big Night Out. She also landed roles in Eclipsed, Fainting Your Way to the Top and Moving Day. Her theatre work includes productions of The Boys and Secret Bridesmaids Business which she performed in New York.
Amber lent her hand to presenting for MTV and for the Disney Channel, shooting on location in Australia and in the US. Amber was on air seven days a week in Australia, New Zealand, and Asia, and was even dubbed in Mandarin. During Amber's time on Studio D, she was personally nominated for an Astra Award for most popular presenter on Australian TV. The show was nominated several times for a Logie Award for most popular children's Television program, and was number one in the ratings for four years in a row.
After Studio Disney, Amber spent some years in the US pursuing American work, shooting a film in LA called Coax, and landing a Green Card. Her most recent short film, Dear John, which she co-wrote, directed, and starred in, has been entered into local film festivals in Australia. In 2010 Amber won the lead role in a comedy pilot called The Unlikely Planet.
