Abigail Van Buren was born on July 4, 1918 in Sioux City, Iowa, USA. She was an actress and producer, known for Mister Ed (1961), Alive Inside: A Story of Music and Memory (2014) and The Steve Allen Show (1956). She was married to Morton Bernard Phillips. She died on January 16, 2013 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA.

Identical twin sister of Ann Landers, who is 17 minutes older than her.

Co-wrote the popular "Dear Abby" column with her daughter, Jeannie, for some months prior to her retirement. Jeannie now writes the column solo, still under the pen name of Abigail Van Buren.
