Biography

James Hiroyuki Liao was born on February 6, 1976 in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, New York, USA. He is an actor and producer, known for Barry (2018), Superman (2025) and Presumed Innocent (2024).

His father is Taiwanese, and his mother is Japanese.

He grew up speaking Japanese and English.

He is a 2004 graduate with a BFA in drama from The Juilliard School.

He is also a proud graduate of the professional actor training program at the Marjorie Ballentine Studio, whose founder Marjorie Ballentine, continues to be his acting coach and mentor.
