Roemehl Hawkins

Biography

Roemehl Hawkins

Mini bio

  • Born and raised in Clearfield, Pennsylvania, Roemehl always had a passion for fashion. Growing up, she religiously watched CNN's Style with Elsa Klensch on Saturday mornings instead of cartoons, and annoyed family members and friends by making them attend her Barbie "runway" shows.

Roemehl attended Penn State University where she received a Bachelor of Science degree. She moved to Los Angeles, where she worked in the health care industry for the next 5 years. But, she never forgot her love of fashion. During her first job interview at Cedars-Sinai, her former boss recollects Roemehl responding to the "where do you see yourself in 10 years" question as, "doing something in fashion and entertainment".

In 2001, after watching the Style Channel's expose on fashion designer Richard Tyler, she made a telephone call that would change her life. Roemehl called Tyler's production office and asked if she could work for him for free. She then interned for Richard Tyler, and with no formal design training, became his star intern. Tyler then hired Roemehl to assist with public relations. This experience led to assisting several celebrity stylists, and careers at both Giorgio Armani and Yves Saint Laurent.

In 2004 Roemehl accepted a position on a television series that no one had yet heard of; that show was Desperate Housewives. Roemehl became the Assistant Costume Designer on Desperate Housewives, and after almost two seasons, she joined the HBO hit series Entourage.

Roemehl is now a Costume Designer for film and television.
