His first job was as an accountant and then he worked up to President and Chief Executive Officer for Columbia Pictures after the David Begelman scandal at the company in 1977, and overlooked some of the studio's major motion pictures. He won a "special" Academy Award for his leading efforts into bringing Columbia Pictures back into a better studio.
