Biography

Frank Peluso, Jr. is an American writer, producer, and director who grew up in Greenwich, Connecticut. He is the son of Frank Peluso Sr., a trial attorney in Lower Manhattan, and Diana Peluso, a homemaker and mother of five. After graduating from Greenwich High School, he attended Pepperdine University and later studied film directing at UCLA.

Peluso began his entertainment career in the agent trainee program at ICM (International Creative Management), where he gained a foundation in representation, packaging, and studio development. He then transitioned into the creative side of production, working at Warner Bros. as an assistant to television writer Rand Ravich. He later served as a writer’s assistant to filmmaker David Ayer, building practical experience in feature development and the day-to-day craft of screen storytelling.

His on-set career accelerated when he was hired as Nick Cassavetes’ assistant on The Notebook. That opportunity became a long-running apprenticeship, and Peluso continued as Cassavetes’s assistant director on additional films, including My Sister’s Keeper, The Other Woman, and God Is a Bullet. Over time, he expanded into producing, including producing Alpha Dog, and made his feature directorial debut with the psychological thriller Red Handed, starring Michael Madsen.

In the 2020s, Peluso broadened his work into documentary filmmaking. He co-directed House of Lanvin and wrote and produced Sandy Powell: Dressing the Part, featuring Academy Award winners Julianne Moore and Cate Blanchett. The film won Best Documentary at the Burbank Film Festival in 2025. He is also credited as writer and producer of the forthcoming documentary Andre Leon Talley: Style is Forever, featuring Tom Ford, Anna Wintour, Vera Wang, Isabella Rossellini, and Diane von Furstenberg.
