Group members Eminem and Proof have known each other since they were kids and grew up together in Detroit, Michigan.

"D12" is short for "Dirty Dozen" because there are 6 guys in the group each person having a split personality.

As of 2004, they have recorded two albums, "Devil's Night" (2001) and "D12 World" (2004).

They have been signed to Shady Records since their first album, "Devil's Night", in 2001.

They refer to Detroit, Michigan (where the group was formed) as Amityville.

They were nominated for Best Rap Video of 2004 at the 2004 MTV Music Video Awards. They lost to Jay-Z for his controversial video, "99 Problems".

Although their debut album was released in 2001, they were underground MCs long before that.

Started in Detroit, Michigan. Their plan was to get the 12 best local rappers and form a Dirty Dozen (D12). They stopped at six members because they were unable to find any other rappers whom they felt were as good as they were.

Tragically, group member Bugz was shot three times and died before D12 became famous. Proof's son was born the same day Bugz died.

They were originally offered the song "In Da Club", but gave it to 50 Cent instead.

They made guest appearances on Eminem's albums "The Marshall Mathers LP", "The Eminem Show" and "Encore".

So far, all of their albums have reached at least double-platinum status.

They have their own fashion line, simply called 'D12'.

Group member Bizarre released his debut solo album, "Hannicap Circus" on June 28, 2005.

They were planning to release the song "Fight Music" as the third single from "Devil's Night" but decided not to. It would have come out a few days after the 9/11 tragedy had happened, and they knew no one would be in the mood to hear a song about destruction.

"Devil's Night" debuted at #1 on the Billboard Charts.

Finished with their "D12 World" tour. Now, they are heading to Hollywood to film two new movies (without Eminem). One is called "Devil's Night" (named after their debut album) and it's a horror flick. The other is called "Runyon Cash", there are no further details about this film. Both are slated for release next year. (August 2004)
