Redd Coltrane

Redd Coltrane is a producer, writer, and director from Columbus, Ohio. Redd’s artistic career began in music, studying as a classical double bassist and pianist, which culminated in his matriculation at Columbia University and The Juilliard School at the same time. While at Columbia, Coltrane was called to action to make his first feature length documentary, Midwestern Atoll, which sparked his love of filmmaking. Since then, Redd has produced over 30 narrative films, earning him qualifications for Academy Award consideration and features in Deadline, The Hollywood Reporter, and IndieWire. His films have played and won jury prizes at various film festivals, including the Chicago International Film Festival (Winner: Gold Hugo, 2025), NewFest, and South by Southwest, among others. In addition to his achievements in Producing and Directing, Redd was nominated and selected to join Sony’s first-ever Future of Cinematography program. In 2025, he was honored with a profile in Marquis’ Who’s Who in America, celebrating his accomplishments in the entertainment industry. He is an MFA graduate of USC’s School of Cinematic Arts.
