  • Director Mary Wharton is an award-winning storyteller with a passion for music and the stories that connect us all to the power of music. She won a Grammy® Award for her first feature documentary, "Sam Cooke: Legend," and her most recent film, "Tom Petty Somewhere You Feel Free" won the top Audience Award at SXSW, Best Documentary at Boulder International Film Festival and the Producers Guild Award for Outstanding Motion Picture (Televised or Streamed).

    Mary has written, directed and produced more than 60 hours of content for television, including documentaries about David Bowie, U2, Jimi Hendrix, George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic, Elton John, The Doors, LL Cool J, Elvis Presley, The Beatles and many more. Her work as a director and editor has been commissioned by brands and cultural institutions including The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Museum, The New Victory Theater and Mikimoto Pearls. Her other feature length films include "Joan Baez: How Sweet the Sound," "Phish: It," "Farrah Fawcett Forever" and "Jimmy Carter Rock & Roll President."
