Used to speak Japanese fluently, which she learned from her time in Tokyo, but now she says she requires a tutor to get this back on track.

She enjoys surfing, which she continues practicing since the television series Beyond the Break (2006). She also has a black belt in taekwondo.

When she was two years old her mother remarried, this time to a member of the US Air Force. Although the family relocated many times, she was predominantly raised in Tokyo, Japan, where the military stationed her stepfather.

Competed in a world championship rock, paper, scissor tournament.

Is also a successful fashion model. Has booked campaigns for Nike, Pepsi, Neutrogena and Hewlett Packard.

In November 2017 she accused director-producer Brett Ratner of repeatedly sexually harassing her over a period of several years. She has supported the MeToo and Time's Up movements with both personal endeavors and public statements.

Is the youngest of five children of Winston Barrett Munn and Kimberly Schmid. Her father, whose family is from Arkansas and Oklahoma, is of English, as well as German, Scottish and Scots-Irish/Northern Irish, ancestry. Her mother, who was raised in Vietnam, is of Chinese ancestry.

On 8/13/13 she dislocated her right shoulder when the connectors of the indoor swing (in her Prague apartment) she was riding on, became disconnected from the ceiling and the swing crashed to the floor.

Journalist Irin Carmon condemned her being hired by The Daily Show (1996) as a correspondent. This became the basis for TGS Hates Women (2011).

In March 2024 Munn revealed that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer the previous year. She announced that she had four surgeries in the previous ten months, including a double mastectomy. She described the cancer as aggressive and fast moving but was caught with "enough time that I had options".

Currently resides in New York City and Los Angeles, CA.

After graduating from the University of Oklahoma, she became an intern at KJRH-TV in Tulsa, OK. She later moved to Los Angeles to begin her professional career as a television host and to pursue an acting career.

She was featured in FHM magazine's list of '100 Sexiest Women in the World' in 2011 (#52), 2012 (#88) and 2013 (#40); and Maxim magazine's Hot 100 Women in 2008 (#99), 2009 (#96), 2010 (#8), 2011 (#2), 2012 (#2), 2013 (#28) and 2016 (#80).

Attended the University of Oklahoma, where she received her Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in journalism with a minor in Japanese dramatic arts.

Her grandfather, Luke Eugene Munn, passed away from cancer, as noted at the end of the 12/12/06 episode of The Daily Show (1996).

In May 2008 she was featured in Esquire magazine's column "Funny Joke from a Beautiful Woman".

Her sister's birthday is July 1, two days before her July 3 birthday, and they sometimes celebrate both birthdays on July 1.

Attended and graduated from Putnam North City High School in Oklahoma City.

Was in a relationship with football quarterback Aaron Rodgers (2014-2017).
