- Akihiko Nakaya was born on November 3, 1957 in Tokyo, Japan.
- The Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) refused Akihiko Nakaya a Super Licence for the 1992 season, despite him being considered for a drive with Brabham because they did not view the Japanese F3000 series as a competitive stepping stone to Formula One. The seat was eventually given to Giovanna Amati, who was replaced after three races by Damon Hill.
