  • Lorette Bayle is an award-winning filmmaker who first produced, directed and edited documentaries and PBS programs before directing short films. Bayle just completed her fifth short film, Scarlett-Angelina, as part of the American Film Institute's Directing Workshop for Women where she was one of eight women directors chosen for this workshop in 2017. Her previous short film The Bake Shop Ghost, based on the children's book by the same title, won multiple Best Short Film and Audience Awards at festivals world wide. Starring three time Emmy Winner, Kathryn Joosten and Academy Nominee, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, this delightful narrative short screened at more than 50 film festivals domestically and internationally, including the Seattle International, Austin, New York and Chicago Children's International, Short Shorts Tokyo, Florida, Cambodia, and Carrousel Film Festivals. Lorette's previous film Mariela's Kitchen also won several awards, screened in festivals internationally and domestically, and aired on Fine Cut for KCET (PBS, Los Angeles). Lorette produced and directed a number of in-studio programs for KUED (PBS, Salt Lake City), winning a Silver Award for Best Entertainment Program in 1997. She has traveled to three continents to produce, direct and shoot documentaries, some of which include Haite, Land of Hope, The Enchanted Gardens of England, and A Gift to the City. She has worked for the Sundance Institute, Film Independent-FIND, and American Zoetrope. Lorette recently left her position as Kodak's Account Manager for Studio Feature Films in Hollywood. She completed an MFA in Film and Theater Directing at the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) in 1999.
