Biography

Emil Maurice was born on January 19, 1897 in Westermoor, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. He died on February 2, 1972 in Munich, Bavaria, Germany.

A close associate of Nazi leader Adolf Hitler, in 1925 Maurice helped Hitler organize the notorious SS of which he became member No. 2 and was eventually promoted to the rank of SS-Oberführer. It is believed by historians that Himmler might have suspected Maurice of having Jewish ancestry, however there is no known proof for this allegation.
