Biography

Herbert Kundler was born on November 5, 1926 in Düsseldorf, Germany. He was a writer, known for Wir Kellerkinder (1960), Aus dem Tagebuch eines Kabarettisten (1963) and Dalli Dalli (1971). He died on October 19, 2004 in Berlin, Germany.

His tenure included the building of the Berlin Wall and President John F. Kennedy's 1963 "Ich bin ein Berliner" speech.

Was head of programming at Radio in the American Sector (RIAS) from 1961-1991. The station played a critical role in informing the public of the divided German capital when communist East Germany sealed off West Berlin and began building the wall in 1961.

Writer and broadcaster who helped direct a U.S.-financed radio station in former West Berlin during most of the Cold War.
