Biography

Ted Gesing is an Emmy-nominated and Peabody Award-winning documentary Producer and DGA Director. He served as Executive Producer and Director on Children of the Underground, an IDA and Spirit Award nominated docuseries for FX about a vigilante network that vanished abused mothers and children in the '80s and '90s. Ted began documentaries since 2003, when his first short Nutria won at SXSW. For the Netflix series Rotten, Gesing wrote and directed the episodes "Big Bird" and "The Peanut Problem." He has worked on a variety of formats, including true crime, history, and current affairs. For Frontline he co-produced the Emmy-nominated "The Confessions," about four sailors wrongfully convicted for murder. As a producer on feature documentaries, Gesing has teamed with several award-winning directors. His National Geographic project with Marina Zenovich, Water & Power: A California Heist, premiered at Sundance in 2017. His HBO project with Liz Garbus, A Dangerous Son, won a 2019 Peabody Award.
