- Sebastián C. Santisteban (Guateque, Boyacá, Colombia) is a filmmaker and writer based in Barcelona. His work moves across dark comedy, metafiction and social critique under a framework he calls tropical psychotic post-existentialism. His literary influences include Beckett, Cioran, Lacan and Borges, while his cinema draws on Lars von Trier, Fellini and Lynch.
He founded the Barcelona collective Rumbo a Peor Films, named after Beckett's Worstward Ho. Its first feature, Ruinas Artificiales (2026), is a dark satire about amateur filmmakers whose project destroys them and whose AI-generated visual effects are attacked by the characters from inside the fiction.
His films include Bel (2024), about algorithms that turn people into disposable content; El Barnaverso (2024), a love letter to Barcelona disguised as a failed advertising campaign; 2013: Imaginarios, el goce de lo simple (2024), which reworks recovered footage from 2013; and La alegre levedad de la colombianidad (2025), a meta-documentary combining archive material and AI animation.
He holds a PhD in social studies and completed postdoctoral research in critical entrepreneurship studies at the University of Auckland. He is also the author of El Maluverso (2023), Más Allá de la Loma and De Rumba en la 51.
