Biography

  • Anthony McKenna is an Irish actor, writer and filmmaker based in Belfast, known for work in psychological drama, folk horror and independent film. His performance style is grounded and physical, often centered on emotionally complex or psychologically intense characters.

He starred in The Paleman (2025), a black-and-white folk horror project which he also helped adapt into a hybrid film and stage production with Accidental Theatre. His screen work includes lead roles in Lockdown Run (2025), To Catch a Crane (2025) and HomeFront (2025).

McKenna trained with Young Irish Film Makers from 2002 to 2006 and at the Gaiety Theatre in Dublin in 2006. He has since expanded into writing and directing, including The Bar at the End of the World, an Irish period folk-horror short set in Donegal in 1854, which he wrote, directs and stars in.

He works across film, theatre and independent production throughout Ireland and the UK.
