Biography

Matriarch and founder of LVN [ph], formed with Carmen Villongco and Eleuterio Navoa Sr. in 1938. LVN stands for the respective initials of the three founding families -- L for De Leon, V for Villongco and N for Navoa. Eventually, After the successful release of the company's debut film Giliw ko (1939) in 1939, she was elected president of LVN Pictures a year later. She eventually bought out the shares of her other partners, gaining full control over the studio.

Gave Luz Valdez her screen name. Dona Sisang Valdez's previous name, Mila Bernardo, is too long and can't harder be remembered.

She was already a 61-year-old widow when she entered the film industry. She produced at least 300 films up to her death in 1966,.

Narcisa and her husband José de León ventured into rice production business, and soon became a leading rice producer in Luzon. She became the first woman appointed to the board of directors of a government corporation when she was named by President Manuel L. Quezon to the board of the National Rice and Corn Corporation.
