Biography

Navida Stein is an award-winning storyteller, actress, musician and writer. She's worked Off-Broadway and at major regional theaters doing new plays, musicals and Shakespeare. Her one-woman shows include "Urban Zen: The Unexpected Adventures of Paying Attention" and "Secrets of a Watchful Sparrow; Daddy, Me & OCD". TV credits: "Law & Order" and Nickelodeon. Recent film credits include the award-winning short film "Blessed" (writer, co-producer, actress). Current projects: "The Willa Cather Salon" a new play with music from the turn of last century and "Inertia is a Black Hole" a short film with a diverse cast, told through a dual lens of reality and an animated graphic novel. Her storytelling draws on the themes of transformation, inter-generational trauma and grace. Always with a good dose of humor. As an accomplished violinist she regularly plays with the Queer Urban Orchestra.

In 2024, Navida created Big Pup Lil Pup Productions, dedicated to creating cinematic stories from an older woman's POV, combating the "invisibility syndrome" that women 50 and above experience. Big Pup Lil Pup Productions has produced 4 short films so far, spanning several different genres from drama to comedy to sci-fi with Navida as screenwriter.
