Hanan Rady

Hanan Rady An Egyptian documentary filmmaker with a profound interest in documenting heritage as well as her interest in highlighting the humanitarian issues. She directed documentaries co-produced by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU,UER), the European Union(EU), Copeam, Open Media Hub,Arab states broadcasting union, ERTU and NMA in Egypt. Her films have won many awards such as : a special prize at the PrixJeunesse international Festival in Munich,Germany 2006 for her film (Fatma) which won also the second place prize of UNICEF in 2006 as well as the first place prize at the Egyptian National Council of Human Rights in 2007. The Forgotten 2007 won the second place prize at the Egyptian National Council of Human Rights and was highlighted in the video bar at the Prix Jeunesse Festival 2008. Her films Fatma,The Forgotten and the The Wizard have been screened on several European TV channels within the framework of the EBU exchange program. The Maze 2020 : won the first place prize at the 7th edition of the Inter-Rives competition held by Copeam in Italy, the Jury prize at the national festival for Egyptian cinema 2021 and it has been awarded as the best documentary film in the exchange film section at the ASBU Festival in Tunisia 2021 also, it was screened at Cortoglobo international film festival (Italy) 2020 as a part of the official competition and in Lector in Fabula cultural festival in Conversano (Italy). A home by choice 2021: Was premiered in Alexandria international film festival in Egypt, won the best film prizes at the catholic center for Egyptian cinema 2021, won a medal and an honor certificate at the National festival for Egyptian cinema 2022, best documentary and the audience award at the Egyptian American film festival for cinema and arts in New York 2022, best documentary at the digital gate film festival ,Algeria,the bronze award at Medinin festival,Tunisia, it has reached as well the finalists at Stockholm city documentary film festival ,Sweden, the long list of Guanghazou documentary film festival in China, an official selection of Hollywood Arab film festival (USA) where it was screened at city walk cinemas (universal studios),finalist at NIF city Biella in Itay, and other in Brazil, Morocco, India and other. In July 2021,The director and the film crew was honored by the Bibliotheca Alexandria,on the occasion of the celebration of Alexandria's cosmopolitanism . other notable works: The human comedy 2008 which was part of the official competition at Al Jazeera documentary film festival. People of satisfaction 2009 A Knight From the Age of Silence 2010 My Beautiful Country 2011 participated in the official competition of the Arab Camera film Festival and was screened in four cities in Netherlands. The Prophet 2012 Music on Egypt"s shore(Part 1 )in 2017 Music on Egypt"s shore(Part 2) in 2018. In 2021, Rady served as a jury member for the prestigious Prix Italia Festival during its 73rd edition, in 2025 she participated in the jury of « A premiere vue » the Mediterranean School Film prize in its 4th edition, as well as other juries in Egypt such as Cairo Short international Film Festival and other. she was honored by the Global media Forum Compact United Nations 2021 and by Lions club of Egypt as well. In 2022, she received the inspirational award by the Arab Entrepreneurs Union on the occasion of celebrating inspirational Arab Women's Day. She leads training workshops and seminars on documentary filmmaking in many Training Centers such as the training center of the faculty of mass communication, Cairo university, Cinemedia for creative arts academy, media graduates society , Ismailia international film festival and many others. She participates as well in the jury committees of students documentary graduation projects at several universities across Egypt .In 2024 she served as a member in the script approval committee at the Egyptian National Center for Cinema. In 2025, Rady served as a programmer of the special program « world films » at Ismailia international film festival in it's 26 edition.
