  • J.D. Funari is a Los Angeles based movie trailer editor whose work has been featured on campaigns for filmmakers such as David Fincher, Denis Villeneuve, Alejandro G. Iñárritu, Jonathan Glazer, Alex Garland, Drake Doremus, Andrea Arnold, and Nicholas Winding Refn among others.

    Born and raised in Upstate New York, J.D. started shooting and editing short films in his late teens, culminating with Evening Message in 2002. The short was met by enthusiastic reception at numerous NY screenings and hailed by FilmThreat.com in a four star review as "...required viewing for any grass-roots filmmaker."

    J.D. relocated to Los Angeles in 2004 to pursue a career in entertainment, where he has since worked as both a TV and film editor on projects for numerous studios and networks, including Warner Brothers, 20th Century Fox, Paramount Pictures, Lionsgate, A24, Netflix, and Amazon Studios.

    2010 marked J.D.'s first feature length movie, the screenwriting documentary Tales from the Script, directed by Peter Hanson and released theatrically by First Run Features. The movie was praised by national critics, earning a 75% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes, featured on Leonard Maltin's TV show Secret's Out, and recommended on Twitter by Iron Man director Jon Favreau.

    J.D. fulfilled a long-time career goal when he was hired by Mark Woollen & Associates in 2012, one of the premiere movie marketing agencies in Los Angeles. There he edited Key Art and Golden Trailer award winning trailers for the movies Fences, Birdman, Enemy, Bad Words, Don Jon, Only God Forgives, and Simon Killer.

    In 2018 J.D. directed a short film titled Exposure which premiered in Los Angeles and screened at film festivals world-wide before debuting online in 2021. He currently works for Netflix as part of their in-house marketing team Creative Studio.
