In 1981 he attended the Illustration and Advertising Graphics course at the State Art Institute of Florence, where, under the direction of artist Marco Lukolic, he learned the fundamentals of drawing.
During these years he became interested in the magazine Metal Hurlant and the work of its leading artists Dionnet, Moebius, Druillet and Farkas, associated with the group known as Les Humanoides Associes. Their work introduced him to the world of fantasy art and illustration.
He specialized in traditional illustration techniques for publishing and advertising. In 1985, after obtaining his diploma in art and a specialization in advertising graphics at the same institute, he began his professional career.
After two years in Milan and several professional experiences in Europe, he began collaborating with creative companies, publishing houses, animation studios and advertising agencies. During this period he met Stelvio Sciuto, from whom he learned the techniques and secrets of traditional animation and stop motion.
For several years he combined his professional activities at Studio Millenium, where he worked on the creation of new packaging projects for Ferrero, Parenti, Gig, Rcr, Fila and Warner Bros, with his work as an animator at Stelvio Sciuto's studio.
For Cartiere Pigna he created covers for collections and projects associated with Benetton012, Enrico Coveri, Disney, Death Face and Conan.
In 1995 he became art director of the video and multimedia department of the Phasar agency in Florence. His clients included Avis, Fila, Calp, Ferrero, Warner Bros, Rai, Superal, Plus Discount, Balducci, Panatex, Prada and the Tuscany Region.
In addition to supervising multimedia projects, he created numerous television commercials for the national television market. For Phasar Edizioni he created numerous book covers and worked as an animator on animated television series produced for Rai, including Coccobill and Corto Maltese.
In 1995 he received a scholarship from the State Art Institute of Florence. In 1998 he won the Progetto Star competition, organized by Rai, the Tuscany and Emilia Romagna regions and animator Marcenaro.
From 2000 he increasingly focused on animation. In the same year, together with other communication professionals, he founded the Nemo Academy of Digital Arts, an institution specializing in education in animation, illustration, web design and visual effects.
From 2004 he has been the artistic director of Nemoland - Behind the Scenes of Imagination, an event organized by Visualia. The event was created from his passion for animation and aims to introduce young audiences and professionals to the artists behind the animated films and visual works that have inspired millions of people around the world.
The festival organizes workshops for young Italian talents with artists and professionals from major studios including Disney, DreamWorks, Pixar, Aardman and Ghibli.
He later worked as an art director at D-mobile Lab, part of Buongiorno and Docomo, where he worked with the graphic team on the creation of graphics, animation and multimedia content for the web and digital media.
Alongside his teaching activities at Nemo Academy, he has worked on books for children published by Books in the Boot and continued his work as artistic director and organizer of Nemoland.
