Biography

Bettino Craxi was born on February 24, 1934 in Milan, Lombardy, Italy. He died on January 19, 2000 in Hammamet, Tunisia.

(1983-1987) Italian prime minister.

(1979-1983 and 1989-1992) Member of the European Parliament for the Party of European Socialists.

(1976-1993) National secretary of the Italian Socialist Party.

(1968-1994) Member of the Italian Parliament for the Italian Socialist Party.

Starting in 1992 Bettino Craxi was accused of corruption and in 1994 fled to Tunisia, becoming an absconding. Between 1996 and 1999 Craxi had two final convictions for corruption and illicit financing of political parties.
