Maxim Pokrovskiy is a musician, composer, actor, director, and the founder, lead vocalist, bassist, and principal songwriter of the rock band Nogu Svelo!, originally formed in Moscow in 1988 and now based in Brooklyn, New York. Known for his distinctive vocal style, theatrical performances, and eclectic songwriting, Pokrovskiy became one of the most recognizable figures of the post-Soviet alternative rock scene.
In addition to his work with Nogu Svelo!, Pokrovskiy has composed music for films and television projects, including the Russian TV series "Vremya - dengi" (2003), and has appeared in several films and television productions such as "Turkish Gambit" (2005), "V ritme tango", "Treasure Raiders" (released in Russia as "Forsazh da Vinchi"), and "Na Baykal". He has also directed and co-directed multiple music videos and visual projects for Nogu Svelo!. Following his public opposition to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Pokrovskiy and Nogu Svelo! were banned from performing in Russia. He continues touring and recording internationally with the band’s American lineup.
