Was to debut as a director with the film "Lathi" in 1988. Starring Dharmendra,Govinda. The film got shelved.

Son of director Hrishikesh Mukherjee. He passed away from a asthma attack in 2001 at railroad station.

Was directing the shelved film Esskay Pictures "Darpok" (1987) Starring Dharmendra,Sanjay Dutt, Mandakini,Swapna,Kanwaljeet, Ranjeet,Paresh Rawal,Sadashiv Amrapurkar,Sangeeta Naik, Music Director: Anu Malik, Produced and Directed by Sandip Mukherjee (Hrishikesh Mukherjee's son).
