Biography

Alex Blue is a singer-songwriter originally from Aurora, Colorado. She began her career in 2010 under the moniker Alex G, posting cover songs on YouTube. Blending folk songwriting and pop melodies, her channel quickly gained popularity, amassing over 1.5 million subscribers. During this period, she collaborated with artists liked Kurt Hugo Schneider, Kina Grannis, Sam Tsui, Chester See and Alyson Stoner. In 2020, she changed her artist name to Alex Blue to signal a new chapter in her artistry, reflecting her identity as a bisexual Mexican Jew, a mother, and a wife. That same year, she released her debut EP, Good Company In 2024, she released her first album in ten years, Kin, described as a "musical memoir of family ties, diaspora, loss, and queer motherhood". The project was crowdfunded through Kickstarter and includes an all-woman backing band featuring Megan McCormick, Megan Coleman, and Butterfly Boucher. Alex Blue is now based in Canada with her wife, Torri, and their child.
