Mieke Namira is an Indonesian filmmaker. Coming from an artistic family, she was exposed to music and performance from an early age. As the daughter of musician Gilang Ramadan and actress and public figure Shahnaz Haque, she grew up immersed in the arts, training in drums and piano and occasionally performing alongside her father.
Her artistic journey began in theater, where she became one of the youngest members of Teater Koma, performing in the stage production J.J. Sampah-Sampah Kota at Taman Ismail Marzuki. She continued performing in stage productions with the company before moving to Los Angeles at the age of 17 to pursue a career in film. She later earned her bachelor’s degree in Filmmaking from the New York Film Academy. With a background in music and live performance, she eventually shifted her focus to filmmaking. She has since worked on commercials, short films, and a feature film, developing a storytelling approach influenced by her background in performance and rhythm.
Passionate about writing and collaborative storytelling, Mieke aims to become a producer and is developing a production house in Indonesia dedicated to supporting emerging artists and underrepresented voices. Her long-term vision is to contribute to the growth of Indonesian cinema on an international scale while creating pathways for the next generation of filmmakers.
