Biography

Sharon Zhou is a filmmaker and writer based in Los Angeles. Originally from Shanghai, she is fluent in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese. Sharon specializes in high concept romance, comedy, and family dramedy. She crafts engaging stories about minority characters who navigate impossible situations using a charming blend of dark comedy and magical realism. She developed this distinct creative voice while studying Film and Television Production at the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts.

Before transitioning to the independent film scene, Sharon built a strong professional foundation in international project development. She served as a development executive on the forty episode fantasy series "The Love of Hypnosis" starring Liu Yifei. During this production, she collaborated directly with legendary filmmaker William Chang. She also contributed to screenplays alongside the acclaimed Hong Kong director Tsui Hark, proving her ability to balance grand ideas with genuine emotion.

As an emerging talent, Sharon continues to gain international industry recognition. She was recently selected for the prestigious 2025 Shanghai International Film Festival New Talent Lab. Furthermore, her directorial work has been celebrated at major cinematic events including LA Shorts, the Rhode Island International Film Festival, and the International Sound and Film Music Festival.
