Born in 1993, Sam was the youngest of nine. He grew up in Bacup, Lancashire, where, at the age of five he joined several of his siblings in attending a local theatre workshop where his older sister Emily still works as an actress, Within months, he landed the lead part in an advert for school uniforms at Asda, then at six starred in a Warburtons bread advert. More serious work came with The Bill and Where the Heart Is, before he was cast as Chesney Brown in Coronation Street. By the age of ten, he had become the nation's favourite redhead and had picked up the Best Newcomer Award at the National Television Awards. The following year, he presented the Queen with a bouquet at party to celebrate 50 years of Coronation Stree. In 2006, he met the Queen again when he filmed inside Buckingham Palace for his role as Horrid Henry in the Chidren's Party at the Palace. This was to celebrate the Queen's 80th birthday. He married his long term girlfriend, yoga teacher Briony Gardner in 2019, having been together since he was 18. Away from the Street, he runs an embroidery and printing business with one of his brothers.
