- Joshua Jeffrey Miller is a filmmaker, writer, and visual artist. His short films have won awards including Best Film, Best Director, and Best Screenplay at the Webster University Student Film Festival (On the Way to China) and Best Film at the St. Louis 48 Hour Film Festival (Earl, Son of God). His work has screened at a variety of film festivals, including Saint Louis International Film Festival, Sidewalk Film Festival, Chattanooga Film Festival, Portland Comedy Film Festival, Chicago REEL Shorts, and Austin Micro Film Festival. He has worked professionally as an aerial photographer for 10 years and served as a field production assistant on Netflix’s Unsolved Mysteries.
Miller earned his MFA from the University of Alabama, where he taught video art and darkroom photography. Currently, he is an Assistant Professor and Program Coordinator of the Film and Media program at Kentucky Wesleyan College. His photography and visual art has been exhibited internationally, with a recent solo exhibition at Harrison Galleries in Tuscaloosa Alabama. His work explores masculinity, grief, isolation, intimacy, and working class American life through film, photography, paintings, autobiographical essays, and literary fiction.
