Leonardus (Lars) Hogendoorn is a lot of things: composer/songwriter/former comedian/teacher and jurist.
Of course he composes underscores for (short) films, documentaries & corporate music production, but where he stands out is his songs - his combination of a poetic and humorous, slightly ironic approach to lyrics. "The music should embrace you; but the lyrics should touch your heart and tickle your sense of humor.", he says.
Lars is based in the Netherlands. As a student, Lars was a performer combining stand-up comedy with singer/songwriter songs while studying law at the University of Groningen (RUG).
Next to his legal work, he took up composing and songwriting again in 2020, especially aimed at events, (short) drama films, documentaries & corporate music production.
His inspiration comes from artists like Kate Bush, Rupert Gregson-Williams, Peter Gabriel, Mozart, Randy Newman, Alan Parsons, Supertramp, Keane, Coldplay, Jean-Michel Jarre etc.
Is Lars' music anything like theirs? No. It's unmistakably his, which is a good thing.
