- Gustav Neidlinger was born on March 21, 1910 in Mainz, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. He was an actor, known for Fidelio (1970), Lieder, Arien und Geschichten (1964) and Da Capo (1986). He died on December 26, 1991 in Bad Ems, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany.

- Mostly sang Wagner's villain-roles, especially Alberich and Klingsor
- Sang at the Bayreuth Festival almost every year from the mid 1940s through the mid 1970s, mostly Wagner's deformed, self-mutilated villains Alberich (in "The Ring of the Nibelung") and Klingsor (in "Parsifal"). More than thirty recorded performances of him singing one or the other of these two roles are available.
