Native to Guadalajara Jalisco Mexico, Oscar graduated from the School of Theater, Film, and Television at UCLA in 2023.
Their style and previous works reflect subjects that Latino culture has inherently avoided speaking about, such as mental health. They aim to create stories that embrace their roots and uplift BIPOC & LGBTQ+ communities. Their stylistic influences go from directors like Angelopoulos, and Kurosawa, to the dreamy and fantasy minds of Guillermo del Toro & Wes Anderson.
In 2023 they co-founded an independent filmmaking collective called Flat Memory Media, along with two of their best friends. Since then, the group has worked with different local artists to create music videos and diverse short films.
They were selected for the 2025 ‘Tomorrow’s Filmmakers Today’ Fellowship program happening within the Hola Mexico Film Festival in Los Angeles.
In March 2026 they left Flat Memory Media to focus on writing their first feature length aimed to shoot in Guadalajara.
