Biography

Arlindo Cruz was born on September 14, 1958 in Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro [ex-Distrito Federal], Brazil. He was an actor and composer, known for The Clone (2001), Arlindo Cruz: Vai Embora Tristeza (Ao Vivo) (2012) and Roque Santeiro (1985). He was married to Babi Cruz. He died on August 8, 2025 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

As a young man, he studied musical theory and classical guitar at the Flor do Méier school.

He won his first cavaquinho at the age of 7. At 12, he started playing songs "by ear" and learned guitar with his brother Acyr Marques.

When he turned 15, he went to Barbacena (MG). There, he studied at the Preparatory School of Cadetes do Ar. In Minas Gerais, he won festivals in Barbacena and Poços de Caldas.
