Biography

Cathy Owens is a multi-hyphenate Director-Writer-Producer whose work has garnered accolades world-wide.

A Black List reviewer states, "It cannot go unsaid that the writer is incredibly talented, and her voice stands apart from others." In all of her stories, she invents unexpected, authentic characters that evoke feelings of compassion that affect her readers in the middle of fun, action-packed storytelling. Ms. Owens often includes dance and sports themes in her storytelling, combining the strength and beauty of physical movement with the creative art of filmmaking.

Cathy Owens earned her Master of Fine Arts from the prestigious USC School of Cinema Arts in Film Production with an emphasis on advanced directing. She has a strong background in science and math, which gives her an edge in combining the creative with the practical and financial aspects of filmmaking.

In addition to the many projects on her slate, Cathy Owens has recently signed a two-picture deal for production of her feature films Killer Surf (Surf, Drive, Stay Alive!) and 2Killer2Surf (Still Alive in Hawaii), set to go into production September 2025 on Route 66 USA and early 2026 in Hawaii, with a planned theatrical release on both feature films in 2026.
