Member of the so-called "Dream Team" (with Robert Shapiro, Johnnie L. Cochran Jr., and F. Lee Bailey) that defended O.J. Simpson on charges that he murdered Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman.

He was the son of Helen (Arakelian) and Arthur Kardashian.

He was of Armenian descent. His parents were born in Los Angeles, both of them to ethnic Armenian emigrants, his father's side from Kars, Russia, now Turkey, and his mother's from Turkey.

Dated Priscilla Presley from 1975 to 1976. The two were introduced by Priscilla's friend Joan Kardashian, who had recently married Robert's brother Tommy after a divorce from Joe Esposito, Elvis Presley's road manager.

[During the OJ Simpson murder trial] the media gave their defense team the nickname "The "Dream Team" because the team consisted of prominent lawyers such as F. Lee Bailey, Robert Shapiro, Robert Kardashian and Alan Dershowitz., all led by Johnnie L. Cochran Jr.

In July 2003, he received a diagnosis of esophageal cancer. 2 months later, he was dead.
