Michael is a South African-born filmmaker, currently based in Florida. Drawn to cinema from a young age, he developed an early appreciation for the collaborative craft of filmmaking and the many departments that bring a production to life. The BTS documentary about the 'making-of' Magnolia was a particularly inspirational influence on his decision to pursue filmmaking.
He began his career in the camera department, working as a camera trainee before developing his skills as an assistant camera and camera operator. He later expanded into the grip & electric departments, working as a gaffer and key grip while learning from experienced mentors and cinematographers, including Emmy-nominated Jake Tawney, ASC's Rising Star of 2024 Bill Kirstein, and Euphoria's Alexander Yellen.
In recent years, Michael has continued to grow as a DP, producer, writer, and director. His narrative short films and documentary passion projects have placed in local and international film festivals. He continues to actively work across multiple departments, with a focus on character-driven visual storytelling.
