Biography

Vince De Quattro spent most of his early visual effects career with Industrial Light & Magic, joining them as a technical director in 1997 and leaving in 2003. Prior to joining ILM, he worked for RGA/Los Angeles, the Sony High Definition Television Center and Warner Digital Studios. After ILM, he worked at Matte World, Inc., The Orphanage and Tweak Films.

In 2005, Vince became a member of the Visual Effects Society and, in 2006, an academic member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

Vince served as a Director of Animation and Visual Effects at the Academy of Art University from 2005 - 2011, helping to establish new curriculum, and a new production focus, ultimately guiding the program to a Student Academy Award win in 2011.

As a founding member of 32TEN Studios in 2011, De Quattro designed post-production training program. After accepting a position as Head of Production at Athena Studios in 2013, Vince helped deliver post-production for a stop-motion animated short, a variety of local and national commercial spots and 300+ VFX shots for a full-length independent feature film.

In 2018, he served as VFX Set Supervisor for Fuse/FX for the second and third seasons of the Netflix series, Thirteen Reasons Why.

De Quattro was born in Washington, D.C. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts/Studio Art from the University of Southern California, and a Master's Degree in Computer Animation in Film from the University of Southern California Film School.

Vince managed his company league softball team to a 99-14 record over seven years. He led the team in home runs (15) in 2002.

Be open to working for collaborations in school, especially cross collaborations in other departments like film, advertising, new media, industrial design, architecture and sculpture. If you're a digital artist, try to get into working with the traditional animation teams. Learn both sides. If you're a modeler, be sure to take anatomy classes -- both human, and animal.
