At a young age, David took an interest in digital photography and would often be found in the backyard setting up action figures for photo-shoots and movie scenes. At the age of 14, David made his first feature-length film with 20+ of his friends over the course of a year. This film, "Run Away Love," gave David a boost of confidence to continue making short & feature films throughout Jr. High and High School.
In 2018, David was the director, producer, editor, and cinematographer for his second feature film, "The Most Dangerous Game," which he made for his senior capstone project at his High School. It was a low-budget/no-budget independent film that allowed David to make numerous connections with other creatives. After serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (2020 - 2022), David continued making films and testing his knowledge and experience.
"Returning," a short film directed by David Ellis and written by Evan Rosencrantz, is David's favorite short film he's created during his filmmaking journey. In March of 2024, David will be releasing his biggest feature film titled, "Wanderer."
David Ellis is married to Amanda Ellis, and they are the owners of the production company, DKE Productions LLC. He will be continuing his filmmaking career throughout northern Utah.
