Mini bio

  • Born in Newcastle upon Tyne, England in 1977 Richard Reay began writing and directing in 1996 while working as a professional actor in his home town before moving to London to continue his own studies. After attending the renowned Central School of Speech and Drama he toured, as an actor, with the Triskellion Theatre Company as the lead in John Millington Synge's "Rider's to the Sea" throughout London. On his return to Newcastle he co-founded Freestyle Film Productions and began to develop short projects, both dramatic and corporate and became a founder member of the FNA Films group and co-produced the short film "Making Tea for the Mob" with Zahra Zommorodian followed closely by "A Blank Slate" in which he also played the lead role. Recently Richard has joined forces with UK/Czech production company UltraSonik Pictures, who produced the long in development Roulette (2004), which Richard both wrote and directed. The film is currently in submission at festivals across the world. Now firmly established in the North-East Film industry Richard mentors new filmmakers in a variety of disciplines, while still working on his own projects as a writer/director and occasionally producing or acting.
