Biography

Jesus Ortiz is a genre-bending Mexican actor and filmmaker based in Canada with now 5 years of experience across acting, narrative, documentary and commercial projects. Rooted in his proud Mexican heritage, storytelling is in his blood. Known for his attention to detail, heart-felt storytelling, and cultural grounded approach, he moves fluidly between genre-focused narratives, commercial work, fiction work, acting work and project management work.

He is the founder of Soluna Studios Inc., a dynamic Canadian film and television production company dedicated to crafting captivating scripted and non-scripted content for audiences worldwide. With his background in Engineering, he offers rare insight into the practical demands of technical and creative sectors of filmmaking and storytelling.

Among Jesus' acting projects are Prank Night, a revenge thriller/horror feature film where he plays "Steve", a member of a low-life gang that dedicate themselves to rob houses. Steve fights with a decision of leaving the gang with his girlfriend or face the consequences. Additionally, he has recently starred in the last season of MGM+ Billy The Kid, where he shares screen alongside Tom Blyth.

Jesus has not only directed commercial work with his company Soluna Studios, but also has directed short narrative projects such as Check Engine, a drama short-film that focuses in the topic of Men's Mental Health and suicide prevention. In 2025 Jesus will be directing the short drama "The Last Delivery", as well as the comedy short film "Follicles".
