Biography

After studying Film, Daan architects an all-round career in the (inter)national film industry until her passion for screenwriting led to a spirited career move in 2011. Her most recent credit is season 2 of the successful high-end series, Máxima (2026). Daan’s autobiographical debut feature La Holandesa (dir. Marleen Jonkman) premiered at the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival, followed by its European premiere at IFFR. Her second feature Wasem (dir. Christian van Duuren) is currently in preproduction. Earlier, she wrote short films including Gamechanger (2016, dir. Christian van Duuren), which premiered at SXSW. In 2021, Daan’s original miniseries Storm Lara (dir. Kadir Ferati Balci) launched on Belgian platform Streamz. In 2024, she was selected to pitch her international drama series Kiss My Feet - co-created with Mark van de Grift and produced by Big Blue - at the Series Mania Forum. Together with co-writer Lucy Macpherson-Mulcahy, she is developing feature films Leewa and No Way Out, as well as the international series Fast Sand.
