Brel was also passionate about motocross and was Canadian champion in 125 cc in 1976.

In November 2006, he released 20 years on stage (20 ans de scène), in collaboration with accordionist Martial Dancourt.

In 1994, Bruno Brel published his first novel, 'Le Touareg blanc' with Éditions La panthère noire, the starting point for a new writing career. He wrote his second novel on 2005 'Le Boyau de la mort '. It recounts the days of his grandfather with King Albert I.

Just like his uncle Jacques, Bruno Brel embarked on a musical career. He had also taken over part of his uncle's track record but wanted to be seen as "Bruno 1" and not "Brel 2".

As of 2021, Bruno Brel resides in Lomprez near Wellin in the Belgian province of Luxembourg after having resided in Picardy (France) for a long time.

Bruno Brel also launched into literature and published several works. At the age of 70, after five novels, two essays and a biography, he wrote his autobiography, in nearly 400 pages: My Uncle's Nephew ( (Le Neveu de mon Oncle) published by Café de La Rue, in 2021. It is the summary of his life, he who wanted to do the same job as his uncle, Jacques, to whom people often wanted to compare him.

In May 2015, he wrote the texts for the book Brel, in pen and brush illustrated by the French designer Jean-Marc Héran published by Éditions Carpentier. Then, still in homage to his uncle, he co-signed with Stéphane Loisy and Baptiste Vignol, Jacques Brel in 40 songs for Hugo Publishing in 2018.
