George Washington Groundhog was a pioneer of the federal discourse bringing the Curtis Act of 1898 to the forefront of the hearts and minds of the Cherokee People. George W. Groundhog was responsible for bringing the formal election process to the Cherokee Nation and the Keetoowah Band, it all began with lighting a fire under W.W. Keeler and the Principle Chiefs Act. Groundhog's passion was for his people, the Cherokee People and Leadership of tribe un-elected in a 1971 lawsuit with opposing counsel Earl Boyd Pierce.
