Johnson Fisher Hansen was born in Orem, Utah in 1998. While he was still young, his family moved to North Carolina. He attended Garner Magnet High School. During his time in high school, he developed a passion for filmmaking and started his YouTube channel, Root Beer Saloon. He won many regional film contests and even received some recognition at the national level. His short film "H(a)unted" was nominated for a regional student Emmy in the Fiction category. Johnson was one of eleven finalists for the National Emmy Scholarship in 2017.
After graduating high school and serving a two-year church mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Johnson began studies at Brigham Young University (BYU). In his freshman semester, he gained employment as a room producer in the post production department at BYUtv (the television arm of BYU Broadcasting). Johnson quickly worked his way through the ranks of student employees in post production. He worked as an assistant editor, online editor, and promo editor. He met his wife, Mackenzie Taylor, who was another student employee in his department at work.
Upon receiving his bachelor's degree in Business Management from the Marriott School of Business, Johnson began his career as a full-time producer at BYUtv. He has produced various programs, including the Children and Family Emmy nominated series All-Round Champion.
