Biography

Born at St. Joseph's Hospital in Yonkers, New York, Joseph Falasca is the eldest of three siblings. His mother's family was originally from Vilnius, Poland and his father's family emigrated from Terracina, Italy. When Joseph was nine, he was an altar boy at Saint Peter's. After a while, he started skipping church, and escaped to the neighborhood movie house, where he fell in love with films like MASH, The Godfather, and Bonnie and Clyde. Joseph then attended Fordham Prep in the Bronx, where he read Pauline Kael's New Yorker film reviews religiously throughout high school.

Joseph was awarded a scholarship to attend Holy Cross College in Worcester Massachusetts, where he studied History and Economics. While at College, Joseph played varsity baseball until he was sidelined by an injury. He also played club ice hockey and football, as well as being a founding member of the inter-collegiate ultimate Frisbee club. As a senior, Joseph starred as "Big Deal" in a production of "West Side Story," which ignited his love of acting.

On graduating college, Joseph went to work on Madison Avenue in New York City, He began his career in statistical research while working for the AC Nielsen company, and then went through the Professional Training Program at J. Walter Thompson, which was taught by James Patterson, who went on to be acclaimed as a writer. Joseph was then recruited to work on the Pepsi account at BBDO.

While at BBDO, Joseph collaborated with directors such as Joe Pytka, Joe Sedelmaier, Bob Giraldi and David Fincher. During this period, as a junior executive, the BBDO Pepsi team won many Clio Awards, along with many Lions and multiple Commercial Palme d'Or nominations at Cannes.

Joseph's interest in theater and film led him to take an acting classes in Greenwich Village. After a few months of studying with William Hickey at HB Studios, he decided to walk away from the corporate world, and start a theater company, which produced many plays throughout the city. Joseph was also cast in several Off-Broadway theatrical productions.

It was around this time in New York that Joseph also began working in commercial film production. He eventually moved to Los Angeles to work as an actor in television and film, and also to work for Joe Pytka, whom he credits for his strong foundation in physical production.
