Born in Santa Monica, California, Van Ness Wu has built a two-decade career in film and television, becoming one of Asia's most recognizable Asian-American entertainers.
Wu first rose to fame as a member of the Taiwanese pop group F4 and gained international recognition through the hit series Meteor Garden, the Taiwanese adaptation of Boys Over Flowers. He went on to establish a substantial film career across Taiwan and mainland China, appearing in more than 18 feature films spanning action, martial arts, comedy, and romantic drama. His film credits showcase his versatility as both a leading man and action performer, as well as his voice work for Pixar's Cars.
Alongside his acting career, Wu is an accomplished recording artist with eight studio albums released through Universal Music. He has collaborated with internationally acclaimed artists including Beyoncé, Kanye West, and Bruno Mars, and has also directed many of his own music videos, bringing his creative vision to both sides of the camera. He has served as a judge on Asia's Got Talent alongside David Foster, and on the Chinese dance competition Street Dance of China.
Beyond entertainment, Wu is active in philanthropy and social advocacy, supporting children's charities, autism awareness, and environmental initiatives, including Al Gore's 24 Hours of Reality.
